A mug of hot Orange Spice Tea

This is a lovely herbal tea for cold mornings that will gently warm the body while also increasing your intake of vitamin C! It can be made with fresh ginger or dried ginger powder. Keep in mind that ginger powder is more concentrated and will require a smaller amount to achieve the same result.

In this recipe you will notice that the orange juice is not simmered with the water but is added later. This is because the orange juice called for in this recipe is fresh-squeezed. By adding the orange juice later and not bringing it to a boil - we are working to preserve as many nutrients as possible from the orange juice. The lower temp also helps to preserve the beneficial nutrients in the honey once added.

Recipe

1 1/2 cups water

1 1/2 cups fresh squeezed orange juice (commercial may be substituted)

3 TB fresh grated ginger (or 1 1/2 tsp powdered)

1 Cinnamon stick (or 1/2 tsp powdered)

1 pinch clove (optional)

Raw Organic Honey (to taste)

  1. Start by bringing the water to a simmer.

  2. Add in the ginger and cinnamon stick.

  3. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  4. Reduce the heat to low.

  5. Add the clove and orange juice.

  6. Gently warm (do not boil) on the stove for 5-7 minutes.

  7. Add honey to taste.

  8. Serve.

Happy Brewing!
